Durostone ®
Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic
Solder Pallet Materials Specifications
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Durostone ® is a heavy-duty glass fibre
reinforced plastic which offers extreme strength and excellent electrical,
thermal and chemical properties. Durostone ® is
manufactured by using Polyester, Vinylester, Epoxid- and modified Epoxy
resins combined with glass fibers.
GENERAL PROPERTIES
Durostone ® materials have excellent
mechanical properties at elevated temperatures and are dimensionally stable
and retain their flatness through repeated cycling in the PCB assembly
process. The low thermal conductivity of Durostone ®
ensures optimal thermal distribution across the work area. The base resin
used to produce Durostone
® provides resistance to the chemicals used in
fluxes and also prevents solder pick-up.
Durostone ® is available in sheet form only in
standard thicknesses of 0.118", 0.157", 0.197", 0.236", 0.315", 0.394" and
0.472" by 48" by 96". Stated tolerance on thicknesses is +/- .004".
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Durostone ® materials are designed and
typically recommended for use in manufacturing solder pallets for
wave-solder applications of printed circuit boards (PCB's). These materials
can also be used for carriers in solder paste printing, SMT placement,
IR-reflow, and conformal coating operations.
DUROSTONE ® GRADES
Durostone ® CHP760 - General
Purpose
The standard grade, Durostone ® CHP-760, works
well for most general use applications and is BLUE
in color.
Durostone ® CAS761 - Antistatic
The antistatic grade, Durostone ® CAS-761, is
recommended for applications where static-sensitive components are processed
and is
BLACK in color.
Durostone ® CAG762 - Optical & Antistatic
Durostone ® CAG-762 is an antistatic grade with
light reflection properties suitable for infra red and optical sensors. It
is
GRAY in color.
Durostone ® CCR766 - Antistatic &
Chemically Resistant
Durostone grades, CHP, CAS and CAG were developed to cover the majority of
applications within the PCB assembly industry. However, degradation of these
materials can occur in the presence of agressive fluxes containing halides
and/or a high percentage of isopropyl alcohol. Durostone ®
CCR-766 is extremely resistant to halides and alcohol and laboratory tests
have shown that it can withstand many cycles in harsh environments.
Durostone ®
CCR-766 is BLACK in color. NOTE: Do
not use Durostone ® CCR-766 in the SMT process. It
has been specifically developed for a wave soldering environment with only
short exposures to extreme temperatures.
