Electronic File Transfer Specifications

Schaffer Precision and Tech-Fab has many customers that prefer to transmit drawing files electronically to ensure accuracy. Our machine shop uses updated CAD/CAM software for component drawings and CAD/CAM machine equipment file generation. Our CAD/CAM software accepts many file formats, but here's a list of files our customers commonly provide:

• .SLDPRT & .SLDDRW formats (SolidWorks 3D model & 2D drawing)
• .STEP & .STP format (generic 3D model)
• .SAT format (AutoCAD 3D model)
• .PRT.# format (Pro/Engineer 3D part file)
• .DRW format (Pro/Engineer drawing file)
• .ASM format (Pro/Engineer assembly file)
• .DXF format (generic 3D AutoCAD or 2D AutoCAD drawing with views)
• .IGES & .IGS format (generic CAD format)
• .STL format (standard 3D file for rapid prototyping only)

E-mail:

Files may be supplied via e-mail by attaching them to messages sent to our e-mail address of info@schafferprecision.com or info@tech-fab.com.

FTP::

Files may be transmitted using any modern web browser or FTP program to our customer FTP site. Anonymous login is at ftp://ftp.schafferprecision.com with the username anonymous#schafferprecision.com, and use your email as a password. Or you can also use this link:
ftp://anonymous%40schafferprecision.com:files@ftp.schafferprecision.com

You can upload files to the "uploads" sub-directory, or download file from the "pub" sub-directory.

Disk:

Please send only clearly labeled IBM-compatible diskettes (1.44Mb HD 3½ inch format) -OR- IBM-compatible CD-R or CD-RW disks.

Fax:

Our FAX number for Schaffer Precision is 1.281.457.33541 and for Tech-Fab is 1.281.862.9004.  Be sure to transmit in high-resolution mode for maximum detail & contrast.
